Golf Doubles Tournament (Kettle Shields)
This event will be held on Sunday 3rd August. Players are partnered randomly to make the contest as even as possible. It will be managed by Carole & Brian Parsons. Two identical shields donated by Norman and Dora Kettle will be presented to the winners.
Carole and Brian have added this explanation.
We play what is known as "promiscuous doubles" which means that we change partners for each game.
The partners are drawn randomly. The games are worked out in advance using numbers and then names drawn to replace the numbers. We will play 4 games each (using handicaps) and the winners will be the 2 players with the most wins (or the most hoops taken at the end of the day in the event of a tie).
We have a record of 22 players this year so we look forward to a good day.
Sixteen members of the club took part in the Golf Croquet Singles Tournament on Sunday 20th July.
Thanks to Paul Robinson for keeping the score and supplying the full results, also acting as substitute for Joan, who was injured early in the day. Get well soon Joan.
The trophy was won by John Uwins after beating Brian Shipman 7-6 at the last hoop in the final play-off.
Neil Humphreys was third, having won 3 games. Everyone else won 1 or 2 games. You can see the full results if you download the .pdf file below.

The engraved shield, in memory of Leslie Staniland was donated by Ruth Staniland.
